Have
you ever thought about joining the army, military, air force, or the marines? Many
people think about joining these branches and a majority of the people do join
to serve and protect our country. Becoming a soldier and going to war doesn’t just
affect the soldiers it affects the families and loved ones of that solider. War
affects the soldiers physically and mentally. Everyday soldiers suffer through
severe injuries, whether it be from a gunshot wound, or a bomb explosion. Serving
in a war also affects the soldiers mentally because they suffer from shell
shock. Shell shock is an emotional shock brought about by the many horrors that
men heard or seen while at war. Soldiers suffer from this emotion due to hearing
other soldiers scream because there in pain, or they witness another soldier
die and then how, if, and when they die crosses their mind and they begin
thinking about their own death. Some soldiers recover from shell shock and
others have it for the rest of their life along with nightmares and flashbacks
of their experiences at war.
Fighting
in a war does affect the soldiers the most and the hardest but it also affects
the families and loved ones of that soldier. When soldiers are gone at war
their families tend to worry and wonder if they will ever hear from them again.
While the men are away at war the women often have to pick up the men’s job and
what the men does all day leaving the house work, cooking, and babysitting to
the oldest child. Having to be the mom figure for while being a child puts a
lot of pressure on them because some of the children may not know how to cook,
or would rather play than do the house chores. Social problems and making
friends can become hard for the oldest child because when their friends are
outside playing and spending time together they can’t go spend time with them
because they have to fill the role of being a wife and mom. When the soldiers
return home they may not be able to recover from what happen to them or what
they say which means that the oldest child will have to continue to be the mom
figure and the woman would have to become the main supporter for the family as
well as taking care of their husband. Many soldiers are fathers, as a child it
is important that you spend time with your child whether it be reading to them
or playing with them. When soldiers come home from war they could be severally
injured and unable to play with their son or daughter which could lead to
depression. I believe that war does affect the soldiers and the families in
many ways and many soldiers and families can’t recover from the damage that war
has done to their families and home life’s.

War is such a traumatic thing. In my opinion, there are many wars that our troops have been involved in that I don't think they should be involved in. We as Americans feel the need to help other countries a lot and it's caused a lot of people to die. If we worried about our own problems before involving ourselves in other countries problems, then we might have a better country and less people being killed or emotionally distraught.
